      The McHenry County Green Infrastructure Plan is the result of a comprehensive planning effort to identify, promote, protect, and enhance McHenry County's green infrastructure resource areas. It was developed with contributions of natural resource and land management experts, municipalities, townships, park districts, and local citizens. The ISO (Insurance Services Office) has just given residential and commercial properties located in McHenry County a Class 4 Building Code Effectiveness Classification. Courts plan to reopen with changes.

Using McHenry County, Illinois, as a case study, stack-unit maps and an aquifer sensitivity assessment were made to help land-use planners, public health officials, consultants, developers, and. • McHenry County’s need for science-based, sustainable water supply management.

–% groundwater-dependent (~75% sand-gravel aquifers) • Responded to County’s Water Resources Management Strategy. –Tied to public education and involvement.

–Recognized need to update geologic and aquifer resource and contamination potential. Isopach maps of each unit were then created. The Pearl-Ashmore Aquifer extends through the eastern two-thirds of McHenry County. The 3-D geologic model predicts that the aquifer has an average thickness ranging from 5 to 15 m and is thickest in the north-central portion of McHenry County where it can reach thicknesses of up to 40 m.

We selected McHenry County in northeastern Illinois as the study site, because historically significant quantities of sand and gravel were mined in this county (Fig.

1, Fig. 2), and demand is extremely high due to its close locality to the Chicago metropolitan and gravel deposits have been extracted from McHenry County mainly from three geological deposits: outwash plains, valley.
